Labour Day is Monday, September 7. That is the weekend most seasonal places on Lake Scugog, the Beaverton shoreline, and Newcastle get locked. The furniture and the shed do not winterize themselves.
The curb will take a couch on a booked day in town. It will not come down a lane to a bunkie. We do not drain pipes or satisfy anyone's vacancy clause — that is not this job, and this is not legal advice. We take the pile so the building can be emptied and locked. After the first hard frost the work is the same, just colder, and the northern window is booked ahead.
Two packages
One bunkie, shed, or garage. Leftover chairs, a fridge, bags, dock junk. Usually a minimum or a quarter trailer, $109–$309 before HST. We load, we sweep, we leave.
The whole close-up. Cottage plus an outbuilding, quoted from photos. Often a half to a full 15-yard trailer, sometimes two trips. Volume surprises people because sheds lie from the doorway. If the trailer cannot sit next to the door, photograph the carry — waterfront access is a labour factor, not a surprise surcharge later.
Send photos of every room and every outbuilding. A room count is less useful than one wide shot per pile and the path to the road.
What is actually in the place
Seasonal loads repeat. That is why photos work.
- A fridge or a chest freezer that has been running all summer — appliance disposal compared here if that is the only item
- A mattress that is not coming back to the city
- Chairs, a couch, and the stuff that failed the last car load
- Shed and bunkie contents: lifejackets, broken tools, bins nobody has opened since 2019
- Dock wood, leftover lumber, and whatever was stacked under the deck
- A shelf of paint, a gas can, and a propane tank from the barbecue
Paint, fuel, and propane are not a junk load. What we cannot take, and where each thing goes, is the same list as every other job. Flag those in the photos so they are a drop at the facility, not a conversation in the driveway.
Four old winter tires sitting in the shed are a self-haul. At a Regional facility, tires are free in a dedicated load, up to ten per vehicle. That is not a booking.
Municipal bulky pickup is for a house in town, not a cottage lane. The curbside lookup is the place if the furniture is at a year-round address. It will not finish a seasonal close-up.
What we will not do
We empty. We do not winterize.
We will not drain lines, add antifreeze, set a thermostat, or inspect the place for an insurer. Hire a plumber or a caretaker for that. If you are selling the property rather than locking it, that is a pre-listing clear or an estate cleanout — different stake, same trailer.
Northern Durham is a scheduled window: Port Perry and Scugog, Brock and Beaverton. Same rates as Oshawa. The difference is when we can get there, not what you pay.
